"Miedka": Among the Evens, a nomadic people from the farthest reaches of Siberia, the word designates the person who has been touched by the bear. A rare privilege: the encounter is usually fatal. Anthropologist Nastassja Martin has survived this borderline experience. Believing in wild animals is the story of this experience; not of an "adventure", but of an inner journey. Starting from the wound, the author questions our relationship with the living in the light of the animist culture of the Evens, a people whose language knows no term to separate "nature" from man. Actor and director Emilie Faucheux has chosen to adapt this story of resilience and reconciliation by activating our imaginations, far from a hypothetical illustration. On stage, she shares the bare space with musician Michael Santos. There are the words of Nastassja Martin. And the sound, which unfolds its own narrative in echo and dialogue from a multitude of materials: layers, synthesizers, breaths, rales, songs, various percussions... Full of power and restraint, Believing in the wild beasts is an intimate epic on the most fragile margins of nature, where our future is largely at stake.
