A pedestrian town centre

Montceau’s pedestrian centre provides a great shopping and sightseeing experience.

An open space on the canal

The town centre of Montceau extends from the train station to the district of the 9th lock on the canal. It stretches along the quays of the Canal du Centre and its tree-lined promenade. It is framed around the town hall square (Place de la Mairie) and around the church (Place de l'Église) boasting many inviting cafés and terraces to relax.

With a compact and dynamic town centre, you’ll find an abundance of stores to sample: high-street fashion, fine food and delicatessen, homewares, jewellery and much more. If you are tempted by a gourmet little break or looking for a special culinary experience, Montceau caters a huge range of treats from a wide variety of quality restaurants. In fine weather, enjoy a drink on one of Montceau’s many outdoor terraces.

Twice a week (on Tuesday and Saturday morning), the riverside Quai Général de Gaulle hosts one of Burgundy’s largest and most vibrant market. A one-stop shop for all your shopping needs including a wide selection of fresh vegetables, cheeses, sausages and local produce.

You will find visitor mooring facilities for boats in the marina facing the town centre. Equipped with modern and functional berthing facilities and 37 rings, the marina offers direct access to local shops and services in town. A great advantage for people without a vehicle! To further explore the region, a public transport network (bus, trains) is easily accessible within walking distance.
