In and around Le Creusot, you will be spoilt for choice by the array of natural attractions, gardens and green spaces to enjoy and breathe fresh air. Season by season, outdoor lovers and hikers see nature reinvent herself through the changing colours of landscapes and a wide variety of walking paths.

In town, discover the Park de la Verrerie and its arboretum. Explore over 28 acres of serene landscaped gardens with a play area for children, family picnic areas, walking and cycling paths for all.

From the hilltop of Le Creusot, enjoy a splendid panoramic view from the Belvedere des Crêtes over the plain of Riaux right up to the Mont Blanc mountains on clear days.

At the Park des Combes, why not get off the beaten track on one of the 3 different walking trails of 10km each? In Sanvignes-les-Mines, former coalmines now provide 7km of footpaths and green spaces.

For an idyllic escape, discover the walking trail of Saint-Sernin-du-Bois, peppered with heritage landmarks and natural wonders such as waterfalls, Roman and Gallo-Roman remains, stone buildings in the village, the dungeon and the magnificent dam made of granite stone. It’s time to get out into the fresh air and visit these wonderful natural spaces with your family, your partner or a bunch of friends at your pace, either for a short stroll of 2km or all the way through 21 km of hiking trail.

A detour to the Landes de la Chaume to observe a rare ecosystem of moorlands is definitely worth it. The site is listed for the unique characteristics of these habitats with countless plants, flowers, animals and insects. Stop and take a close look and you may be surprised by what you find!

Whether you fancy a gentle stroll around a nearby lake of reservoir, a bike ride with the family or an afternoon's fishing or boating, there's plenty to choose from the many lakes around le Creusot.

In the village of Génelard, an interpretation walking path follows the 500 meters trench along which you can discover the history of Génelard and the canal du Centre.

Whatever the season, Le Creusot and its surrounds are a place to get away from it all and experience spectacular natural spaces and countryside.
